There are many fun family-friendly events happening this weekend to celebrate St. Patrick’s Day. These are just a few that my family is considering; what are your plans to celebrate St. Patty’s Day?

18th Annual Charlotte St. Patrick’s Day ParadeSaturday 3/15, 11 am, FREE

This fun parade kicks off at 9th & Tryon Streets uptown and will turn onto 3rd St. The parade will feature bands, dancers, floats, animals and more.

Charlotte Goes Green/St. Patrick’s Day Festival, Saturday 3/15, 10 am-6 pm, FREE

The festival will take place uptown on S. Tryon St. between 3rd & Stonewall Streets. Visit the festival before and after the parade for Irish music, dancing, kids’ activities and plenty of food and drink vendors.

Visit the US National Whitewater Center for this all day festival. The river will run green at 1 pm. Live music, a 5K run, a Cornhole tournament and plenty of food and drink for all. The green river will be open for kayaking and rafting after 1 pm. Visit the US National Whitewater Center website for details about what activities are available, including the price of passes and age/weight limits.

 

Latta Celtic Festival, Saturday 3/15, 10 am-4 pm, $8 adults/$7 seniors/$6 students/free for children under 5
Historic Latta Plantation is located off exit 16 on I77. Live music, Scottish dancers, vendors, and Olde Mecklenburg Brewery will be on site for a fun-filled day. There will also be games, storytelling and farm animals for children to enjoy. Make a full day of it and stay for the Celtic Music Night Fundraiser (6-9 pm).
