valentine's day 2Heading out this Valentine’s Day?  There’s plenty of great things to see and do in our beautiful city – perfect for a special night (or day) out with your loved one.

You can…

– Go Out to Dinner

Charlotte is home to a lot of truly fantastic restaurants, with new ones opening all over the city on a regular basis.  There really is something for everyone.  Some of the more romantic restaurants in the city include:

* The Fig Tree Restaurant

* Luce

* Toscana

* Fiamma

* Carpe Diem

* Georges Brassiere

Do Dinner with a Twist

Why stop with dinner?  Visit Cinebarre at the Arboretum, where you can eat dinner while watching a movie – and I don’t mean a dinner of popcorn and candy.  They serve burgers, sandwiches, beer, wine and much more.  There are plenty of great bars to go dancing in in Uptown too.  Or, enjoy a night at Howl at the Moon, our local dueling piano bar.  Extend your special time together and get a hotel room in Center City, and soak up all of the hotel amenities (spa or indoor pool, anyone?)

– Get Cultured

Who says you have to celebrate Valentine’s Day at night?  Why not celebrate during the day and visit one (or more) of Charlotte’s great museums?  Just a short stroll through Uptown puts you by the Bechtler Museum of Modern Art, the Mint Museum, the Harvey B. Gantt Center for African-American Arts & Culture and the NASCAR Hall of Fame, to name just a few.

– Catch a Show

Not only is Charlotte home to a lot of great restaurants, museums and things to do – we have a lot of fantastic performers who visit our city too.  Opera lovers, be sure to check out Opera Carolina’s Valentine’s Opera Dinner at Blue Restaurant & Bar – a four-course dinner with a live opera performed in front of you.  Sometimes me and my husband will celebrate Valentine’s Day later, and if you go that route, you can enjoy the North Carolina Dance Theatre’s performance of “Cinderella” happening in early March, or rock out to “Rock of Ages” coming to the Belk Theater February 21 – 23.

– Make Something Together

There are plenty of places you can go and enjoy a glass of wine with your loved one while you craft something together – guaranteed laughs.  Wine & Canvas is teaming up with La Paz for a date night, with margaritas, wine and food.  There’s also a special Valentine’s Day event at Painting with a Twist, the Wine Palette, and Wine & Design.  There’s also pottery painting at Dish It Out and Meg-Art Paint Your Own Pottery Studio & Espresso Bar.

However you choose to celebrate your day – whether on the 14th or later, at home or out, we hope you have a wonderful, love-filled day!!
