christmasvilleWe’re just a few weeks from Christmas (ahh!) and there’s no shortage of seasonal fun to be had in and around the Queen City.  One of my favorite events is this weekend, December 5th – 8th and takes place in nearby Rock Hill: ChristmasVille!

All of Rock Hill’s Main Street turns into a Christmas Village for the weekend, complete with dancers, carolers, carriage rides, food, drinks, ice skating, Santa, rides, music and even 20 tons of REAL SNOW!  The festivities kick off on the 5th with a tree lighting ceremony, and the merriment continues through the weekend – you can listen to the Grinch read “How the Grinch Stole ChristmasVille!,” take the kids for a ride on a ferris wheel or merry-go-round, have tea with Mrs. Claus or listen to Santa read stories.  One of my favorite perks about this weekend is that the awesome Main Street Children’s Museum gives parents free admission during the festival – a great place to spend a few hours playing!

ChristmasVille is free to enter and parking is free as well.  The price for rides and some of the events is very nominal.  Last year our boys had a blast people watching, eating and running around (OK, one of them did.  The other one was three weeks old at the time and slept through the whole thing); I can’t wait to see how much fun they’re going to have this year!
