Do you have professional pictures taken of your family on a regular basis? Jim and I were not 100% thrilled with our wedding photography, so I was a bit hesitant to invest hundreds of dollars to hire another professional photographer after we had our daughter four years ago. Lucky for us, my younger sister, who also happens to be a professional photographer, was in town shortly after Molly’s birth and she took some wonderful newborn photos for us. Then we went a few years without professional pictures, although we certainly had plenty of Molly. It’s hard to make sure we are all in the picture, though, and there’s not always someone else around or enough time to snap a picture.

Unfortunately, my sister doesn’t live locally and we can’t always plan on having time for a photo session while she is in town. A few years ago, I met a local photographer, Tricia Williams, through the Junior League of Charlotte and she’s our new go-to gal for family pictures. She took James’ newborn pictures last December (and turned around a few photos quickly for us for Christmas cards!) and we recently booked one of her 2013 mini sessions for our yearly photos. While it is definitely something that we have to plan and budget for, I am always so, so glad that we have such beautiful prints for our home – and for grandparent gifts! It is fun to look at each year’s photos and see how we’ve changed and the children have grown. I am currently trying to convince my husband that we need to have a photo shoot scheduled for the spring, too!

Tricia emailed me a few sneak peeks from our session recently and I was so excited to open the email to see what she had captured. I have since received all of the digital images from our session and just cannot decide which ones to use on our Christmas cards!

And just because I can’t help it, this is my favorite photo ever. It’s from our newborn session with Tricia last December and I used it on my Christmas card.

What do you think? Do you have professional photos taken regularly?

I was not compensated in any way for writing about Tricia and our experiences with her. I really do just love working with her! If you are interested in contacting Tricia, you can visit her website here or send her an email (triciawilliamsphotography at carolina.rr.com).
