Halloween is one of those holidays that I didn’t particularly enjoy until I had children of my own, but now that I see the day through their eyes, I’ve learned to embrace the fun. Halloween pajamas, snacks, decorations and of course costumes are all things my daughter looks forward to. Whether you simply trick-or-treat on your block, attend a fall festival at a local church, or go all out with an elaborately planned party, there are so many fun idhalloween fruit snackseas thanks to parenting magazines, blogs and Pinterest.

My daughter’s school has a costume parade, and then each class has a fall party. I’m all about any chance for Molly to wear her costume more than once and this is a great place to make the focus on fun and not candy! I saw the most adorable Halloween themed snacks on Pinterest yesterday. I think kids of any age would love these, don’t you?

One year, I hosted a HHalloween partyalloween party on the Friday evening before Halloween. We made chili and cornbread muffins, had chicken nuggets for the children, and let the kids run around in their costumes. The parents got to socialize and the children had a blast and there was the bonus of wearing that costume again!

I also love the idea of a Halloween brunch  on the Saturday before Halloween, or if you’re a stay-at-home mom, you could have a weekday brunch with your playgroup. Again, keep the snacks simple and let the kids wear their costumes. Decorate as much – or as little – as you want and depending on the ages of the children, you could have a Halloween themed game or activity (paining pumpkins, anyone?!) for the guests to participate in.
