We recently made our annual trek to the mountains for some apple pickin’. We love to visit Sky Top Orchard in Flat Rock, NC. This year, we visited on a weekday (thankful for flexible work-at-home schedules!) and practically had the whole place to ourselves. It was a beautiful late summer day, and while there were only a few types of apples available for picking, we got more than enough apples! We have enjoyed the apples as snacks with peanut butter, in soup, and I still want to make these muffins before we run out.

Sky Top is easy to get to from Charlotte and has a wonderful play area with multiple swing sets and play houses, animals to feed and a bamboo forest to explore. And, you can’t pass up the fresh doughnuts and apple cider slushies! Molly had a blast looking for ripe apples and James finally fell asleep in the Ergo. He woke up in time to enjoy some of my doughnut.
